Bondy Surreal Handbag Campaign
Bondy is a Berlin-based fashion label founded by Judith Bondy, known for its fusion of couture craftsmanship with an edgy, youthful aesthetic rooted in club culture. Our collaboration began organically through a short video interview, where we aligned on a shared vision: to create a campaign that felt dreamy, bold, and emotionally resonant while also making the brand accessible to a broader audience.

The Research Question
“Why is surrealist photography a reoccurring phenomenon in fashion advertising, and how can its principles be applied to create an effective campaign for a Berlin-based fashion brand/designer?”
The Answer
Creation of a series of photographs in a poster format based on the defined surrealist photography criteria, adapted to the style/aesthetic of the collaborating Berlin-based fashion designer.

Method Framework
The general framework of the thesis process can be split into two parallel processes: the scientific process used to write the thesis & the practical application of the theoretical findings.
The connection between theory and practice
My personal highlight throughout this thesis was the possibility to apply the theoretical research to as many touchpoints as possible.
This approach led to a highly paculiar way of shooting and editing in order to adhere to the researched criteria, as well as create a series representative of a Berlin fashion brand
Alongside the printed campaign in poster format, the thesis book itself is designed in the format of a fashion magazine, inspired by magazines like Sleek, I-D and Surface. This allowed for an additional application of the photography work in the form of advertisements throughout the magazine.
